About Getting Started with Mac OS X version 10.2
The Getting started CD contains the self-paced version of the Getting Started with Mac OS X course, a fun look at Apple’s next-generation operating system.
You’ll find all the information from the Getting Started with Mac OS X guide, as well as 90 movies that demonstrate the different topics covered in the course.
Installing the course:
To get started, first you need to install the course. Simply drag the Mac OS X - Getting Started folder from the CD to your desktop or any other location on your hard disk.
Note: You can also run the course from the CD simply by opening the Mac OS X - Getting Started folder and double-clicking the “Start Here.html” file.
If you install Getting Started with Mac OS X on your hard disk, you can create a link to the course in your Dock by following these steps:
1. Double-click the Mac OS X - Getting Started folder you placed on your desktop to open it.
2. Drag the “Start Here.html” file to the right side of the Dock next to the Trash icon. You’ll see the icon appear in the Dock.
3. Click the icon in the Dock to start the course.
About the practice files In the practice exercises in both the printed and self-paced versions, you’ll find references to the practice files included with this course. You’ll use
these files to practice adding an image to an email message, customizing your desktop picture, and more. In addition to being stored on the CD, the practice files are incorporated with the self-paced version of the course. Click the Practice Files link in the main Getting Started with Mac OS X course window to access the files.
